Spend four weeks in Italy learning about Italian language, culture, art, and history
This ISU faculty-led program is based in Orvieto, Italy, a quaint medieval town in the region of Umbria, known for its Etruscan remains, spectacular late medieval cathedral, and Renaissance artworks.
During the four weeks in Orvieto, students will take day trips to Assisi and Siena, and overnight trips to Rome and Florence. In each city, the program fee includes entrances into many museums and cultural sites, such as the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, St. Peter's basilica, the Vatican museums, and the Uffizi galleries.
Classes will be held in Orvieto, where students will combine traditional classroom meetings with visits to city monuments, meetings with local educators and officials, and excursions around the city.
While in Orvieto students will also be offered 15-hours of formal (non-credit bearing) Italian language instruction and will visit a local farm that produces wine and olive oil in the Umbrian tradition. A trip to a local lake will provide a little R&R, too.
