Affiliate Programs
In addition to Illinois State programs, the Office of International Studies and Programs (OISP) offers students the opportunity to study abroad through one of our Affiliate study abroad providers.
Affiliate providers have been approved by OISP for academics, safety, security, housing, and meals. Students will receive ISU credit for courses taken abroad and financial aid/scholarships/loans can be applied.
If you are interested in an Affiliate program:
- Make an appointment to speak with a Study Abroad Advisor, especially if you want to receive language credit while abroad. (Spanish majors and minors should read the Languages and Cultures Department advising sheet prior to choosing a program.)
- Obtaining course approval is the responsibility of the student. You must complete the Academic Planning Form, have it signed by your Advisor, and submit it to the Registrar’s Office in order to receive ISU credit.
- The budget for each affiliate program varies. All students who participate in an affiliate program will be billed for two credit hours of ISU tuition, CISI International health insurance, and the OISP application fee.
- If the student plans on using Financial Aid, it is their responsibility to provide program budget information to their Study Abroad Advisor. OISP will make a budget and give it to the Financial Aid Office upon request from the student.
- The affiliate program cost will be billed through ISU student accounts; financial aid, scholarships, grants, loans, College Illinois, etc can be applied. Be sure to speak with Financial Aid on how these funds can be applied to your specific case.
**Please Note: If you choose to study abroad through an Affiliate program, you must fill out the ISU Study Abroad Application AND the Affiliate application found on the Affiliate program website.**
*You are required to pay the Application Fee for OISP and any Application Fees/Deposits required by the Affiliate Company.*
