Location ________________

• National Chengchi University (NCCU) is located in a suburb of Taipei
• NCCU is known as one of the most prestigious universities in Taiwan
• The university is about one hour away from Taipei’s international airport
• The university is located next to the Taipei Zoo, Maokong Tea Garden, and Taipei Zoo MRT (subway) station
• Public transportation is inexpensive and easily accessible around Taipei and also around Taiwan
• Taipei is a cultural center with access to a variety of unique foods and experiences
• Within an hour from campus there are numerous historical sites and places to experience local traditions, national parks, and beautiful beaches
• Taipei is the home of Taipei 101, the second largest building in the world
• The university's Chinese Language Center has been providing Mandarin Chinese instruction for over 30 years




Academics _______________

• General Education classes available
• Earn 15 credit hours
• Intensive Mandarin Chinese courses available
• Once students arrive they pick their classes
• Students then attend those classes and after a week register officially (changes may be made)

Prerequisites _______________

• Open to all majors and minors
• Must have an ISU cumulative GPA of a 2.5 or higher
• Need to have completed two full semesters at ISU or other college/university
• Exchange program offered to ISU students only



Housing & Meals _______________

• There is both on-campus and off-campus housing available
• Dormitory housing is available and provides an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in local Taiwanese student life
• Dormitories usually house 3-4 students per dorm. You will most likely be roomed with local Taiwanese students
• Housing in the International House is also available
• The International House allows students to meet other international students and live in a more western-style living arrangement, students have the option of living in a single or double occupancy room
• Both the dormitories and International House are located on campus

Student Life _______________

• Students have many opportunities to interact with locals and experience Taiwanese culture
• Taiwanese people are hospitable towards foreigners and make foreigners feel welcome
• National Chengchi University offers opportunities for students to get involved in sports and clubs on campus
• There are a number of recreational facilities, student performances, and activities on campus
• Language exchanges with local students are easily arranged and beneficial to students wanting to learn Chinese or Taiwanese
• Travel around Taiwan is convenient and allows students to explore and experience different cities and parts of the island
• Weekend trips are affordable and sometimes arranged by student ambassador groups
• Taipei provides a cultural experience along with accessibility to the comforts of home (movie theaters, different types of cuisine, and shopping malls)
