Study Abroad Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for a study abroad program, you must:
- Have met with a Study Abroad Advisor,
your Academic Advisor, and/or the Faculty Director to discuss your
interests and program options
- Have
completed at least two (2) semesters at a college or university prior to term of
participation (24 credit hours)
- Must
be in good academic and disciplinary standing
- Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5*
*Some programs require a higher minimum GPA:
- Anglo American University - minimum GPA 2.7
- Salzburg College - minimum GPA 2.7
- Canterbury Christ Church University - minimum GPA 2.75
- Universidad Antonio de Nebrija - minimum GPA 2.75
- Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) - minimum GPA 2.75
- Lorenzo
de' Medici (all campuses) - minimum GPA 2.8
- (GPA lower than 2.8 must
also submit a personal essay explaining why GPA is below 2.8 and what
steps you have taken to improve it. Please send this to studyabroad@ilstu.edu)

- Edith Cowan University - minimum GPA 3.0
- ESSCA (all campuses) - minimum GPA 3.0
- Izmir University of Economics - minimum GPA 3.0
- Kansai Gaidai University - minimum GPA 3.0
- King Mongkut's Univesity of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) - minimum GPA 3.0
- Kansai Gaidai University - minimum GPA 3.0
- Nanzan University - minimum GPA 3.0
- University of Hong Kong (HKU) - minimum GPA 3.0
- University of Leicester - minimum GPA 3.0
University of Stirling - minimum GPA 3.0 - Uppsala University - minimum GPA 3.5
If you do not meet the eligibility criteria and are not accepted to study abroad for that terms, OISP will not bill you an application fee.
We do encourage you to work hard, improve your academic/disciplinary standing and apply again for a later term.
